Scott Alan & Cynthia Erivo: Home Again
4 - 6 May 2015
Acclaimed International composer Scott Alan (Home; Dreaming Wide Awake) & Evening Standard and What’s On Stage Award Nominated West End...
Smitty’s Big Four is the feisty younger brother of the 8-piece Kansas Smitty’s House Band. The Big Four specialises in what they call “chamber swing”; dynamic, virtuosic, and through composed pieces that feature bulletproof tightness and tender lyricism. The band is rooted in such interpretations of masters Jelly Roll Morton, Scott Joplin and other early greats of American music.
Tonight, the Big Four will crack the Great American Songbook. Expect to hear verses and sections of favourite tunes you never knew existed, offbeat picks from legendary composers, and fresh takes on classic numbers. Selections will include works by Kern, Rodgers, Bernstein, Gershwin and more.
