Nicky Haslam: Spring will be a little late this Year

90 mins Approx with an interval

Like all the best things in life, my singing came about by chance. I’d always worshipped Cole Porter, whom I knew, and the other great American song-writers but had only sung “in the bath”. A few years ago, a friend dared me to do a Cabaret at Bellamy’s restaurant in London and it went from there… to Annabel’s nightclub, the Savoy Hotel, and private engagements including one for Larry Gagosian’s star-artist-studded dinner in Basel

This St James’s gig is my first ‘legit’ show, and luckily I’m being accompanied by the renowned pianist Tom Wakeley, who knows, like me, that while “they don’t write songs like that anymore”, they don’t need to. There are so many magical less-well-known ones that we both delight in performing… punctuated by a few of my memories of luminaries in that more tuneful past.
